Cemeteries, Part Two (John R. Pack/ William Vest)

The John R. Pack/ William Vest Cemetery is located on Melvin Underwood Rd. Off Streeter Road. It is easily accessible.

There are a number of Bashams, Harveys, Vests, Wills, Packs, and Pettrys buried there. John R. Pack, forefather to many Packs living in Summers Co. is interred beside both his wives- Elizabeth Dell Harvey and Elizabeth Rollyson.

Lucy Pack Wills Basham is buried here along with Children from both her marriages. She was interred along side her first husband.

Supposedly Mary Jane Pack (wife to Alexander Basham and Wilson Harvey) is buried there, but I could not identify her tombstone. There are a few illegible ones.

It is a very peaceful cemetery with a bench or two to sit down on.

  1. Hello,

I am trying to locate this cemetery on a map, but I can not find Melvin Underwood Rd on Google maps, even when I zoom in and follow Streeter Rd. I am guess Google does not have that street marked. I am in Massachusetts so not at all familiar with the area (I have been to that cemetery once back in 2001).

    Thanks,
    Patrick

  2. It does show on Google maps...at least when I looked at it. Follow the road carefully and you should see it. You may need to zoom in more.

  4. Hello! I am not sure if you are still checking comments on your blog, but I am curious to know if you have any information on Mary Jane Pack after her marriage to Wilson Harvey. Her marriage record to Wilson is the last record I am able to find. Any help would be appreciated!

    Sincerely,
    Casey

  6. I have searched at the highest level of magnification on three different map sites and can not find Melvin Underwood Rd. Could you possible open google maps, right click on the road and cope and post the co-ordinates? Thanks

    1. Forgot about this blog. But your post brought me back, I searched again and found it! The key is Google maps won't find it under Streeter, but instead under Bluestone River, WV

Here is the link. Coordinates are in the URL in case clicking on it doesn't work.

    2. Follow up note: URL/Coordinates are for the middle of the cemetery, not the road itself. If you don't see the road, zoom out a bit and look north of the cemetery.
